The Amazing Spider-Man
A typically off-beat Brian project, Brian originally recorded this as the theme and incidental music for a BBC Radio 1 production. The complete BBC story can be found on a double-CD set, but the theme was extended and remixed into a form suitable for a single release. A five mix CD single was released in the UK, together with a 12" picture disc. Not very Queen-like in sound though! Credited to "MC Spy-D and Friends".
Alternate Versions
The Amazing Spider-Man
Mastermix
The "main" version on the CD single. Features lots of samples from the radio series, including the voice of Peter Parker narrating a condensed version of the story. If the intro sounds familiar, that's because its the beginning of Rick Rubin's remix of "We Will Rock You". A bit disjointed to listen to, as the music is largely irrelevant to the samples playing over it. Good "pumpkin bomb" noise though.
Sad Bit
Quite short, this is just a nice guitar instrumental.
White Trouser Mix
Very much a "dance" mix, and quite long with samples of many of the characters from the series. Surprisingly listenable, with some good additional piano (not by Brian).
Brown Trouser Mix
Very short, really just a quick burst of noise.
MC Spy-D's Favourite Stings
A collection of samples, presumably for other people to use. Good if you're into funny sound effects. Obviously quite short. Uses a feature called "indexing" that lets you access the samples individually, if your CD player supports it that is. Irrelevant but true.
Solution Mix
On a black vinyl promo 12" only. Another long "dance" mix, with an unknown female singer providing most of the vocals ("spin for me, spidy!"). Nice labels on the disc itself though.
Solution Chilled Mix
From the same promo 12" as above. A remix of a remix, very dancey and lots of extra piano.
