Counterfeits of Hammer To Fall

This page, currently in draft form, aims to look at the bootlegs of Hammer To Fall.

7" live sleeve

Counterfeits of this sleeve are matt, whereas the original was a glossy laminated sleeve. The bootleg also folds in the European way: (imagine you're looking at the edge of the sleeve that opens)
  ----------------------------
  +-- --+
  +--------------------------+
whereas the original sleeve folded in the British way:
  +-- --+
  | ------------------------ |
  +--------------------------+

The counterfeit has been reported in various colours (red, green, blue) as well as black. Don't assume you can tell a black vinyl counterfeit by looking at the record, as it may have been switched with the vinyl from a regular red-sleeve issue.

Warning

The information is believed to be accurate as of February 1999. However, I can't guarantee that more sophisticated counterfeits won't appear in the future. Neither can I be sure that there aren't other variations that are currently undocumented. Take care when buying records that have been (or may have been) counterfeited.
