Is This The World We Created

Words and music by Freddie Mercury and Brian May

Transcribed by Lee Francis Wilhelmsen

A really good song with great lyrics. I find it very hard to believe that neither this song nor "Love of my life" are not to be found on any of the greatest hits albums since I for one, consider them to be among the finest from the Queen repertoire. This song took me some time to transcribe. This is the 3rd atempt, but I think I got it right. I've seen a few other transcriptions, but I don't think they are accurate enough. The lyrics follow after the transcription.

BTW Brian May tunes down half a step to bE for this song.

they're not (but there's not much difference).

Lyrics:

Is This the World We Created? (Mercury/May)

Verse 1 Just look at all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
        Searching for what they need

Chorus Is this the world we created
What did we do it for
Is this the world we invaded
        Against the law
So it seems in the end
Is this what we're all living for today
        The world that we created

Verse 2 You know that every day a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go by

Chorus Is this the world we created
We made it on our own
Is this the world we devastated
        Right to the bone
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we've done
To the world that he created
